Paytm Launches Solar-Powered Soundbox to Empower Small Merchants and Promote Sustainability

The device, designed for small shop owners, hawkers, and merchants, is a green alternative to traditional electricity-powered devices, offering a solar-powered solution for businesses in rural and remote areas.

The Paytm Solar Soundbox is designed to help small merchants make payments through a solar-powered system, a much-needed solution in areas with unreliable electricity. This device features a unique dual battery system—one powered by solar energy and the other by electricity as a backup.

At the heart of the device is a solar panel that charges the primary battery. Just 2-3 hours of sunlight is enough to fully charge the solar battery, which can then last a full day. For areas with limited sunlight or inconsistent power supply, the secondary electricity-powered battery can last up to 10 days on a single charge, ensuring that merchants can continue conducting business without interruption.

Built for Convenience and Versatility

The Paytm Solar Soundbox supports seamless payments through the Paytm QR code, enabling Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions and payments via RuPay credit cards. The device also features 4G connectivity, ensuring that merchants can register payments without any connectivity issues.

Moreover, the device is equipped with a 3W speaker that notifies merchants in real-time when a payment has been successfully processed. These notifications can be set in any of the 11 languages supported by the device, making it accessible to a wider range of users.
