Instagram is trying out something new! They are testing a dislike button just for comments. This is for when you see a comment that’s not helpful or just plain annoying. It’s all about making things better for users.
Think of YouTube’s dislike button, but just for Instagram comments. Interestingly, there’s a catch. You won’t see a number showing how many dislikes a comment gets. It’s all happening behind the scenes!
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, explained how these dislikes will be useful. He said these dislikes will change how comments are shown. Basically, comments people dislike will be pushed down. It’s very similar to how downvotes work on Reddit. Mosseri mentioned this gives people a private way to say they don’t like a comment. Ultimately, Instagram wants to create a friendlier and nicer space for everyone to chat.
For now, this dislike button is in the testing phase. Only a small group of people are seeing it. However, if things go well, Instagram might roll it out to everyone soon. So, keep an eye out for this feature in the future!
This dislike button is just one of the fresh things Instagram is working on currently. Furthermore, they just launched a video editing app called Edits. It’s meant to be like TikTok’s CapCut app. Additionally, they recently allowed longer Reels, up to three minutes long. It seems Instagram is full of surprises lately!
