Haier M95E Mini LED Smart TV Review: A Premium Experience for a Premium Price

Raghu ShirodkerTech2 weeks ago20 Views

In India’s fiercely competitive Smart TV market, standing out can be a real challenge. With many brands offering similar specifications, it’s not easy to differentiate. However, Haier’s M95E series breaks away from the crowd with its innovative use of Mini LED technology and a premium design. Today, we’ll be diving into our review of the 65-inch variant, priced at Rs. 1,55,990, to see if it truly delivers on its promises.

Haier M95E Smart TV Design: A Premium Look and Feel

The Haier M95E series immediately impresses with its design. In one word: premium. The TV boasts a metallic build with slim bezels that enhance its sleek, modern look. The stand is solid and stylish, crafted from metal for a stable base. It’s worth noting that the M95E is quite heavy, so setting it up requires at least two people.

The TV is equipped with a front-facing soundbar, which houses dual woofers at the back for deeper sound. The sleek soundbar, with Haier’s branding, adds a touch of class while delivering strong audio. In terms of ports, the M95E offers an impressive array, including four HDMI 2.1 ports (two with 4K 120Hz support), USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a LAN port, and more, ensuring excellent connectivity options for users.

Haier also introduces a solar-powered remote, which can be charged via USB Type-C. It includes dedicated buttons for streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video, ensuring seamless control. The remote worked well during our testing, with the voice function being responsive and efficient.

Mini LED Technology: Stunning Visuals on Display

The real highlight of the Haier M95E series lies in its Mini LED display. This technology, positioned between QLED and OLED, uses thousands of tiny LEDs for better control over brightness and contrast. The result is a TV that delivers brighter visuals with deeper blacks, significantly improving the overall picture quality.

HDR10+ and Dolby Vision certifications enhance the viewing experience, bringing vibrant colors and rich details to supported content. During testing, HDR10+ content looked stunning, with the TV maintaining clarity and contrast in both dark and bright scenes. However, due to its glossy panel, it’s recommended to reduce ambient light when watching, as reflections can be distracting.

The M95E’s viewing angles are excellent, allowing multiple people to enjoy the TV from different positions without losing picture quality. Additionally, with modes tailored for Sports, Movies, and Gaming, you can optimize the viewing experience to suit your content type.

Gaming Experience: Smooth, Immersive, and Fast

For gamers, the Haier M95E is a solid performer. The TV supports 4K gaming at up to 144Hz, alongside advanced features like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation (MEMC), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and AMD FreeSync Premium.

We connected a PlayStation 5 and played several AAA titles, such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Red Dead Redemption 2. The games looked stunning on the M95E, with vibrant colors and smooth frame rates. The TV’s dedicated Gaming Mode allowed us to tweak settings for optimal immersion, including picture modes and screen size adjustments. The addition of CrossHair for FPS games further enhances accuracy, making this TV a great choice for serious gamers.

Sound Quality: Powerful Audio with Room for Customization

The Haier M95E’s sound output is another area where it stands out. Equipped with Harman Kardon-powered speakers, it delivers up to 60W of sound output through its front-facing soundbar and rear-mounted woofers. The sound is loud, clear, and rich in bass, filling large rooms with ease.

However, we did notice that the sound was a bit bass-heavy straight out of the box. Fortunately, you can adjust the sound settings for a more balanced audio profile. The TV supports Dolby Atmos and dbx-tv, but we found dbx-tv tuning to deliver a better sound quality for most content. Multiple sound modes let you fine-tune audio to match the content you’re watching, making it versatile for all kinds of media.

Performance and Smart Features

The Haier M95E runs on Android TV OS 11, which offers a smooth and intuitive interface. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, providing enough space for your apps and games without causing lag or slowdowns. Google TV’s recent overhaul makes navigating through content easy and quick. The built-in Google Assistant allows for hands-free control, and you can cast content using Google Chromecast.

Connectivity is another strong point, with support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, ensuring stable connections for streaming and gaming. During our review, we didn’t face any connectivity issues.

Haier M95E Mini LED Smart TV Verdict: Worth the Investment?

After spending several months with the Haier M95E, it’s clear that this is a premium Smart TV designed for those who want more than a standard LED TV. The Mini LED display offers exceptional picture quality, with bright visuals, deep blacks, and vibrant colors. The TV’s gaming performance is top-notch, and the sound quality, while bass-heavy out of the box, can be adjusted to suit your preferences.

That said, the M95E isn’t without its drawbacks. At Rs. 1,55,990 for the 65-inch model, it’s on the expensive side, especially in a price-sensitive market like India. While the quality is outstanding, Haier’s pricing could make it a tough sell for some consumers, especially those upgrading from a regular LED TV.

If you’re in the market for a premium TV with superior features, and you don’t mind paying a premium for it, the Haier M95E series is definitely worth considering. However, if budget is a major factor, you may want to explore other options in the market.
