Grok 3 Worry for X Premium, Not India

X Premium+ Price Surges!

Elon Musk’s social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, just made a big announcement. They are increasing the cost for their top-tier Premium+ subscription. Get ready to pay almost twice as much for this plan. Interestingly, this news arrived right after xAI, Musk’s AI company, launched Grok 3, its latest AI model.

Cost Nearly Doubles for Premium+

X’s updated support page gives us the details. For Premium+ in the US, it will now be $40 each month. This is around an 82% jump in price! Alternatively, you can pay $395 for a year, which is about a 72% rise. Previously, users paid $22 monthly or $229 every year for this plan.

India Escapes Price Hike

Good news for users in India! It seems the price increase has not yet affected X Premium+ there. Currently, the plan remains at Rs 1,750 monthly and Rs 18,300 annually. Similarly, X’s basic and premium tiers prices are unchanged. They stay at Rs 243 and Rs 650 per month, respectively.

Another Price Increase in Just Two Months

This isn’t the first time X has hiked the Premium+ price recently. Back in December 2024, X raised the price of Premium+ for everyone worldwide, including India. At that point, the monthly cost in India went up about 35%. It increased from Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,750 each month. Also, the annual price moved to Rs 18,300 from Rs 13,600.

Global Price Rise Before Too

The price increase stretched beyond India in December. In the US, the Premium+ monthly rate went up from $16 to $22. This was the launch price. Furthermore, the yearly rate climbed from $168 to $229.

Grok 3: Premium+ Exclusive

This new Grok 3 chatbot model is only available to X Premium+ subscribers. However, access to Grok 3 isn’t fully open. Only some features, like “deep search” and “reasoning,” are included in the Premium+ plan. For Grok 3’s full power, xAI has created a separate SuperGrok plan. You can access this through the Grok app.
