David Bennett, a senior research scientist at the University of Maryland, explained that further observations will be essential to verify whether this object is the same one detected in 2011. The research team plans to continue monitoring the object’s movement throughout the year to determine if it aligns with earlier findings.

In addition, an alternative theory is also on the table. It’s possible that the 2011 observation was not of a star-exoplanet system, but rather a rogue planet, perhaps even accompanied by an exomoon. If the object’s movement doesn’t match expectations, the team may lean toward this rogue planet hypothesis.

Aparna Bhattacharya, a research scientist at the University of Maryland, emphasized the need for careful monitoring. She noted that if the object’s path doesn’t follow the predicted trajectory, scientists may reconsider the possibility of a rogue planet.
