Tiger Woods’ TGL Embarrassment

Tiger’s Tiny Trouble: 99-Yard Mix-Up Costs Golf Legend Dearly

Imagine this: Tiger Woods is on the green at a big golf event. His pal, Rob McNamara, tells him “99 yards.” Hearing this, Woods grabs a pitching wedge without a second thought. It was Tuesday night TGL action, after all! Woods even double-checked the number with McNamara. But maybe he should have asked again, again.

However, Tiger’s teammates watching from the sidelines got confused real fast. They wondered why he picked that club. It wouldn’t even get close to 199 yards! They realized something was wrong, but it was too late to shout or stop him. Everyone else knew the caddie meant “199” yards, dropping the first digit for speed. Poor Tiger just heard “99.”

Then, WHACK! Woods swings, and the ball flies… just 100 yards. Way too short of the green in the match against the New York Golf Club. Turns out, his little oops cost him the 13th hole to Cameron Young. “I heard 99 yards, not 199!” Woods explained later. He even called it super embarrassing for his career!

Interestingly, teammates Kim and Kevin Kisner couldn’t stop laughing about the whole thing. They all understood it was a funny mix-up. This was Woods’ first game since his mom, Kultida Woods, passed away. In the end, New York’s team, with Fowler, Fitzpatrick, and Young, beat Jupiter Links 10-3 Tuesday. Afterward, when asked about the match, Kim and Kisner pointed straight to Tiger’s yard mishap!

For now, it’s unclear when we’ll see Woods back on the PGA Tour in 2025. He had to pull out of a tournament recently because of his mother’s death. But, good news for fans! Woods is scheduled to play for Jupiter Links again on February 25th. Let’s hope he double checks those yardage numbers next time!
