College baseball season kicked off Friday, and Tennessee came ready to play! After a fantastic 2024 with a national title win, everyone was excited to see what the Vols would do this year. Well, No. 2 ranked Tennessee (1-0) did not disappoint. They crushed Hofstra (0-1) with a dominant 15-0 victory. The game ended early after just seven innings due to the run rule. This exciting win happened at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Remember, rankings are from the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll.
A whopping sixteen student-athletes got playing time for Tennessee. This included fourteen position players and two pitchers. The Vols’ offense was explosive. They racked up 13 hits, drove in 13 runs, and scored 15 in total. Power was on full display too!
Dean Curley, Andrew Fischer, and Hunter High all blasted home runs for the Vols. Furthermore, Gavin Kilen and Stone Lawless each smacked doubles.
