Rohit Sharma Reaches 11,000 ODI Runs: Achieves Milestone in Style

New Delhi: Rohit Sharma, India’s “Hitman,” made history on Thursday by becoming the second-fastest cricketer to reach 11,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). He achieved this remarkable feat during India’s Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

A Milestone Moment
The 37-year-old needed just 12 more runs to hit the milestone and reached it with a boundary off Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman in the fourth over of India’s chase of 229. This achievement came in his 261st innings, placing him just behind Virat Kohli, who reached 11,000 runs in only 222 innings. Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar had previously achieved the milestone in 276 innings.

Joining an Elite Group
Rohit’s impressive record places him among the greats, making him the fourth Indian player to reach this landmark. He joins the ranks of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Sourav Ganguly. Rohit is now the 10th overall cricketer to have achieved the remarkable 11,000-run mark.

The Fastest to 11,000 Runs

  • 222 innings: Virat Kohli
  • 261 innings: Rohit Sharma
  • 276 innings: Sachin Tendulkar
  • 286 innings: Ricky Ponting

Fast Start and Early Dismissal
