The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the rumored successor to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, is generating a lot of buzz. We’ve already heard whispers about its powerful chipset and impressive camera capabilities. Now, a new leak suggests something unexpected: a smaller battery than expected!
A tipster on X (formerly Twitter) claims the S26 Ultra might pack a battery with less than a 6,000mAh capacity. This is a surprise, especially since the S25 Ultra boasts a 5,000mAh battery. The tipster is even so bold as to say they’ll delete their account if the phone comes with anything larger! Interestingly, they also pointed to internal Samsung tests suggesting a 5,396mAh battery.
This potential shift towards a smaller battery size raises some questions. While Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of these specifications, it’s worth considering how much smaller is small enough, and what factors might be driving this possible change.
Silicon-Carbon Batteries: A Game Changer?
Previous leaks hinted that the S26 series might use new silicon-carbon batteries instead of traditional lithium-ion batteries. These batteries promise increased energy density, meaning a smaller battery could potentially hold the same amount of charge as a larger lithium-ion battery. They’re also touted as safer and more environmentally friendly.
But That’s Not All!
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to pack even more exciting features. Exynos chips, potentially the Exynos 2600, could power the phone.
And get ready for a next-level selfie experience! Rumors suggest the Ultra could feature an under-display camera, similar to what we’ve seen on the Galaxy Z Fold smartphones.
Furthermore, a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a larger sensor is high on the list of potential upgrades. That’s a huge leap from the S25 Ultra’s current 50-megapixel telephoto setup.
What do you think about these potential upgrades and the possibility of a smaller battery? Let me know in the comments!
