Earth Shakes Delhi!

Early Monday morning, Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida residents got a rude awakening. Strong tremors shook homes. People felt a 4.0 magnitude earthquake. The quake’s centre was right in Delhi. It happened very early in the day. Reports say many people rushed out of their houses feeling panicked.

Anxiety After Shocks: It’s Real

After an earthquake, some people feel anxious. Often, they can’t shake off thoughts of the shaking. Even if no one is hurt or nothing breaks, earthquakes can be scary. They can leave emotional scars. Many people get post-earthquake anxiety. This means worry and fear stick around. Even when things are safe again, this feeling persists. People with this anxiety might have panic attacks. They might not sleep well. Constant fear of another quake can creep in. Some even get headaches or their heart races.

Spotting Post-Earthquake Anxiety Symptoms

Look out for these signs after an earthquake:

  • Feeling fearful and helpless.
  • Easily irritated and moody.
  • Deep sadness.
  • Faster heartbeat and sweating.
  • Dizziness and tiredness.
  • Tense muscles.

Feeling Anxious? Here’s How to Cope

If you feel this way, or see someone struggling, here’s what to do:

Try calming relaxation techniques. Breathe deeply through your nose. Hold it for a bit. Slowly breathe out through your mouth. Try tensing and then relaxing different muscle groups. This helps release stress. Focus on right now. This stops overwhelming thoughts.

Helping Kids and Seniors

Little kids and older adults might feel more anxious after a quake. Give them lots of reassurance. Talk to them openly. Make sure they feel safe. Kids can process feelings through stories and drawings. Playing safety drills is also helpful. For seniors, being there for them and chatting helps. Gentle activities and regular check-ins bring comfort.

Delhi Earthquake Details
