Sony State of Play: Big Reveals and Exciting Announcements You Can’t Miss
Sony’s recent State of Play had fans buzzing with fresh game trailers and exciting announcements. While some expected surprises didn’t quite land, the showcase still gave us plenty of new titles to get hyped about. From remasters to brand-new IPs, there’s something for every kind of gamer.
First up, the most anticipated announcement: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is coming! After months of leaks, Sony confirmed the remake’s launch date: August 28th. Fans of the original can expect updated visuals, new gameplay, and—of course—the return of the classic Snake vs. Monkey mini-game. This remake will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Another highlight from the showcase was Housemarque’s latest project, Saros. The studio behind Returnal is sticking with their successful formula, this time delivering a roguelike bullet-hell shooter. Set in a time loop on the dangerous planet Carcosa, players will follow Arjun Devraj, voiced by British actor Rahul Kohli, as he navigates through eerie cycles of death and resurrection. Saros will be a PS5 exclusive and is expected to drop in 2026.
In classic PlayStation fashion, Days Gone is getting a remaster. This updated version will offer enhanced visuals, DualSense controller features, and new content, including a survival mode and permadeath option. The remaster will launch on April 25th for both PS5 and PC. Original owners can upgrade for just $10, making it an easy decision for those who loved the original.
Eclipse Glow Studio made waves with their reveal of Tides of Annihilation, a unique action-adventure game set in a ruined version of London. The game blends platforming with fast-paced combat, as players control Gwendolyn, who can summon spectral knights to aid in battle. The trailer teased impressive boss fights and intriguing character designs. Fans of dark fantasy and action RPGs will want to keep an eye on this one when it releases for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S—though we don’t have a release date yet.
Two other exciting reveals came in the form of MindsEye, a third-person action-adventure thriller from Leslie Benzies’ new studio, Build a Rocket Boy. Set in the futuristic city of Redrock, players control Jacob Diaz as he uncovers the mysteries behind a mysterious implant. Expect explosive action and intense storytelling. MindsEye is slated for release this summer on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Meanwhile, Lost Soul Aside—an action game inspired by Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry—finally revealed its release date: May 30, 2025. Expect jaw-dropping visuals, epic combat, and expansive worlds as you fight to save lost souls.
The State of Play didn’t stop there! Other highlights include:
