AGBO Beefs Up Gaming Team, Bringing in Fortnite’s Donald Mustard (and More)

Production powerhouses Anthony and Joe Russo’s AGBO is making waves in the immersive entertainment world. They’ve already conquered the streaming platform with hits like The Gray Man and Extraction. Now, they’re setting their sights on video games with some high-profile additions.

Leading the charge is Pete Wanat, a veteran game executive who previously held key roles at Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group and Nifty Games. Wanat now takes the helm as president of interactive technology at AGBO, bringing his expertise to create captivating interactive experiences.

AGBO’s co-founder Donald Mustard (yup, that’s Co-creator of Fortnite), explained the importance of Wanat’s role. “Pete’s unbeatable knowledge of game development will allow us to weave our characters and stories into unforgettable new projects.” He believes Wanat’s leadership will unlock expansive universes across film, television, and gaming, providing audiences with deeper ways to immerse themselves in their stories.

AGBO’s big push into interactive entertainment started five years ago when Nexon Co., a global video game giant, invested a hefty $400 million in the company. The Russo brothers followed that with a string of strategic hires.

This year alone, AGBO brought on Mustard and Chris Brearton, former head of MGM Studios. They also welcomed Dr. Dominic Hughes, who’s tasked with exploring the potential of artificial intelligence in storytelling.

Wanat’s own experience spans video game production for major franchises like Jurassic World, Despicable Me, and Fast & Furious. He’s also worked on iconic brands like Aliens, LEGO, South Park, and even pro sports titles featuring the NFL, NBA, and MLB.

Excited about AGBO’s vision, Wanat said, “AGBO is at the forefront of empowering artists to explore new interactive experiences.” He’s ready to leverage his passion for gaming to empower AGBO’s in-house teams, expand their capabilities, and cultivate a culture of innovation and collaboration.
